Pool Cage Permits and HOA Approval in Spring Hill, FL
This is a plain guide, not legal advice. Rules change, so check the official sources below or ask the provider before work starts.
What Hernando County says
- Hernando County's list of items that don't need a residential building permit includes re-screening of existing window screens or screen enclosures.
- A building permit is required for most construction work. A new pool screen enclosure or a new screen room appears on the county's building permit fee schedule, so plan on a permit for new or rebuilt structures and ask the county about frame repairs.
- New permit applications go through the county's online permit portal. The Building Division page has the links and contact details.

If the home is inside the City of Brooksville, check with the city instead.
HOA approval
Many Spring Hill neighborhoods have a homeowners association with rules on exterior changes. Before work starts:
- Read your HOA's architectural rules or ask the management company
- Ask whether a repair, rescreen, color change or rebuild needs an approval form
- Get approval in writing and give a copy to the provider
